Crafting Unique Children’s Beds: Designs and Options
Greetings, everyone,
Last week, I shared the exciting news about designing a room for my daughter. Now, I’ve completed the technical drawing of the bed. Now it’s time crafting unique children’s beds: designs and options. I’ll quickly create a simple render to present it to my husband before finalizing the production.
Key considerations in designing my child’s bed include minimizing room space, incorporating storage areas, capturing the child’s interest, opting for a wooden structure, ensuring Montessori-compliant design, and achieving an aesthetically pleasing look.
The bed’s height is set at 50 cm above the ground, providing a comfortable size for my daughter to easily get in and out. Soft fabric details are incorporated at the back for added comfort during activities like reading or play. Two large wheeled drawers under the bed are designed for toy and clothing storage. The mobile design allows easy access, and the worry of drawers falling off the rails is eliminated. Although drawer guards are present, one can never predict what children might do—perhaps climb on an open drawer! The crucial aspect here is ensuring that storage remains independent of the bed. Additionally, I’ve added a mini house-shaped slide to the design, which I plan to refine for enhanced safety.
This design is my creation, and I’ll manufacture it in my workshop. If you have the opportunity to commission custom designs for your special room or child, feel free to reach out. You can send a direct message on my Instagram account or contact me through the provided WhatsApp link.
For those who may not be interested in custom designs, I’ve found some stylish and practical wooden children’s beds on Amazon that I’d like to share.
Montessori Wooden House Bed
Customizable dimensions and two additional storage drawers make this design versatile and appealing. Its adaptability to growing needs is an excellent detail.
Minimal Toddler Bed with Sharp Lines
The simplicity of its design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional for smaller spaces. The space underneath can be transformed into storage using suitable boxes.
Montessori-Style Wooden Bed Frame
Ideal for those who love a completely natural look, this design supports children’s imagination with playful details. You can choose the bed frame size according to your room dimensions from the seller’s page.
Ground-Level Wooden Montessori Bed
Its natural and minimal appearance supports versatile usage, such as transforming into a play area or even a cafe for tea time, depending on your child’s imagination.
Functional Fabric-Covered Bed with Pockets
Although not wooden, this model deserves consideration. Pockets on the bed sides can be used for the child’s immediate needs. If desired, it can be turned into a mini bookshelf, and the entirely fabric-covered structure can help prevent potential injuries.
Metal Wrought-Iron Bed
I appreciate the soothing tones of this type of bed. You might wonder why I didn’t choose a metal bed. Firstly, if I had more space, I would consider it, as such models shine in more expansive areas. Secondly, with our woodwork workshop, I made the choice from that perspective and the available resources.
These are my crafting unique children’s beds: designs and options and thoughts. You can complete your purchases through the provided links, and if you need more information, I’m always here. Sending love, until we meet again!
